Hi Steve,

On your recent podcast with Dave Asprey you briefly mentioned using a red flood light while taking a morning shower. I looked on Amazon and elsewhere for products that would attach to shower head to do this; and unfortunately everything I found that can be used in the shower changes color either by the heat of the water, or through timed rotation. Would you please be kind enough to recommend a product that would do the job of providing continued red light while one takes a shower. Thank you, John R.

Is it really fair to call it "fasting" if we're taking in all that fat (good as it is!) and all those calories every morning with our coffee? It's more like a meal replacement, isn't it? "Fasting" is more along the lines of water only right? In a keto-adapted state, I'd think water only fasting would burn more body fat than if you ingest a bunch of fat in the morning with your coffee.
I'm just trying to understand why this isn't viewed more as a meal replacement..
Kind regards,
Kelly T

Dave_C,

Any insight on why Keto helps my major depression of 10yrs+? was the carbs/glucose causing it all along?

You clearly know your stuff very well, and although you're anti-keto, maybe can help me understand...

Thanks!

What am I missing? Lose lots of weight on ketosis diet, metabolic acidosis and glucose starvation. You also can lose weight on chemotherapy or fasting.
Now the "new discovered resistant starch" importance with gut health incorporated into a diet by "supplementing" tablespoons of raw flour.
Just in an attempt to get the same gut biome as all the trim Long Lived Large Population traditional cultures with Starch-Based diets around the whole world. Why fear starch based high carb diets that has produced the most centenerians. (Most eat beans also) However, I would assume 16 hour intermittent fasting windows would be common to give you your brief ketosis benefits.
Don't forget to leisure walk 5-10 miles a day with sun for trim Long life.

Hi, I just wanted to add that (having recently found out) that immunosuppressive drugs (most of them) are made from toxic mold, which is why they lower the immune system. I had a surgery ten years ago that was a 7 hour, intensive GI procedure. I was given just such drugs to keep my body from reacting to the surgical tools being used. Recently, I found out my family is living in a house with very bad mold underneath it. I have been experiencing the effects much worse than the others. My doctor told me that I am more sensitive now to mold from using the immunosuppressive drugs with the surgery. Its good to know, but something that could have been more useful back when I was recovering from the surgery, to know going forward. It's interesting what details get left out.

In case it has been a similar mystery for anyone else, I just wanted to share what I learned and am dealing with.

Be Happy is the first step...next it's about searching for it and internalizing it. Perhaps something you can add to this article under the 'be happy' section is one should create a dream board (or vision board) for oneself.

Essentially, you grab a whole bunch of magazines and start to set your intentions (Dr Wayne Dyer, speaks better about intention setting than I do). The idea is the dream big. Say for example you live in a crappy apartment, and one of your goals is to get a better house. Don't cut out a modest middle-class apartment. Find a mansion - you might think you'll never own - and cut it out. You can dream big in all the areas of your life.

I've been on anti-depressants now for (roughly) six years. One major combatant is exercise and diet. Exercise, Diet, and (most important) consistency. I made it my goal to wake up early in the morning and run on the beach at 4:30am. I can't say I always stick to it...but minimum of 4 days a week I'm out there. It's just the ocean and me...it's wonderful. Running, for me, is about the exercise and what you speak of just "getting out". Once you start to find an exercise routine...eventually it becomes a meditation of sorts.

This year my goal is to be anti-depressant free, provided I stick to Exercise, Diet, Meditation and Happiness in a consistent manner. Thank you for this wonderful post! It can confirmed much of my thinking.

I will be back to dig into other avenues of this blog/website. :D

taking a break helps - best is recycling the source of caffeine - for example - if you normally rely on starbucks doubleshot, after a week for a few days - take AMP or something else like Red Bull - or any "other" preference. That'll help make it more effective in long run.

Eventually you'd hit a point where you'd wanna refresh - at that point go cold turkey for a day (you'd need 48 hours or so to start getting severe headaches (believe me 24 hours break is fine) - next morning after good night sleep - start again - this time with a lower dosage - Then recycle and continue to up the dosage... the cycle can go on forever.

Taking cold turkey or even mild break for a week (very hard for a lot of people) can aid in milking the best out of caffeine later...
